Every CRFA™ member is required to obtain 15 hours of retirement-specific Continuing Education units towards their annual renewal.
CRFA™ Continuing Education (CE) is a recertification process and therefore the courses should be directly linked to the knowledge, skills, and abilities covered in the original training class. Retirement specific issues taken from the various areas within the financial planning discipline are the focus of the CRFA™.
The Retirement Academy, a division of SCRFA, offers teleconferences that provides CRFA CE.
CRFA members must maintain their level of competency through continuing education. They must also agree to continue to abide by the Code of Ethics, a primary agreement for elite advisors, and continue to provide objective recommendations. The following link provides the public with the forms to file a complaint and the options available to the member. If the CRFA Division of the Society agrees that the member has violated the rules of ethics, the publication contains the actions the Disciplinary Committee will take against the member.
2009 Job Analysis
The analysis consisted of a survey that was posted online. Individuals in the financial advisory services responded by identifying the topics they considered essential to retirement. Their responses were mapped to the existing question database. Where there were deficiencies, SMEs participated in writing new questions.
