CRFAR Marketing Program
Educational Value vs. Marketing Value Many financial credentials and designations have educational value but little marketing value. For example, many insurance agents tell us that the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) classes taught them a great deal. However, if you line up 100 people and ask them the meaning of "CLU" they cannot tell you. If you then ask them what a Chartered Life Underwriter does, they still cannot tell you. Thus, the credential has little or no marketing value. | | For any designation or credential that you pursue, seek to get high education and marketing value. Ask the granting organization what they do to promote the credential to the target market so that people will recognize it and you will find it easier to establish trust and credibility because of the designation's public familiarity.
